Traveling trough Cuba you will find couple of options where you can try some crocodile meat. And I totally understand that eating crocodile is not everyone's thing. But no matter weather you decide to try some crocodile or not you should definitely visit a crocodile farm and see these guys.

On our trip trough Cuba we had a chance to visit a crocodile farm near the famous Playa Larga (Criadero de Cocodrilos).
The visit was quite short. We have spent maybe an hour there but it was for sure worth our time.

Cuban crocodile (or Cocodrilo Cubano ) was for a long while one of the endangered species.
According to the friendly people working at Criadero de Cocodrilos (the crocodile farm) the Cuban crocodile is no longer endangered. The Cuban government is trying hard to keep this project up and running and constantly increasing the number of this local species in the nature.
Just on this farm there are several THOUSANDS of crocodiles. From just hatched ones to to adult fully grown specimens.
Btw. the Cuban crocodile is a "small" kind of crocodile. They grow only up to 3.5 m long. Big enough if you ask me!  😨

Traveling trough Cuba you will find couple of options where you can try some crocodile meat. After visiting the crocodile farm we stopped at one nearby Paladar (a local, privately owned restaurant) and tasted some crocodile meat.
Sauteed crocodile with a side or rice, Cuban black beans and salad.

You know how, when describing new tastes of white meat, we somehow always end up comparing it to chicken (at least we do that where I come from)... well... it tastes kinda like chicken, only a bit different. And by far not as fishy as I have expected
! All together - I would eat it again. Hans wasn't that happy about the crocodile. He would pick a pork chop over croc any time :-)
